Meet the Author
of
The Study Guide
Burnard Morey, BSc,DCH,FAIM,FRACI,Ch.Chem.
Burnard Morey majored in Physics and Chemistry at the University of Adelaide, then did post-graduate studies in Management, Management Psychology, and Behavioural Science.
In researching and writing the Study Guide, he has drawn on his personal experience and methods over a lifetime of study and learning. As a scientist, he has applied some of the simpler rules of how of energy works to explain the process of learning and memory, and the development of 'Memory-Skills'.
He spent many
years in industrial technology, production, research & development, and
management. He has been General Manager in a number of different industries, and
spent several years as a Management Consultant based in Sydney.
He is a qualified therapist, and combined these counseling and behaviour modification skills with management and personnel consulting and training.
For many years he was an active member of Rotary.
Since retiring, he was for a period a member of the Economic Advisory Committee of the South West Development Commission (WA), and at the same time helped establish the Bunbury (WA) Business Enterprise Centre, and was its Deputy Chairman for the first four years of its life. He has also been actively engaged in voluntary work, which included assisting, mentoring and tutoring students.
He was also a volunteer lecturer on a variety of subjects for the University of the Third Age - an extension service of the University of Western Australia. Such as: an annual series of eight lectures on the Evolution of Scientific Thought, and another series on Understanding & Managing Stress. A series on Forensic Science will be ready for 2008. He has served as Vice President on the U3A State Council, and as Chairman of the Development Committee.
He has published handbooks on Learning, Memory, and Study, and on Understanding and Managing Stress. In 2001 'Chemistry in Australia' published an essay on 'Intuition in Problem Solving and Creativity' - and this was expanded into a lecture with the title 'Intuition - Where Physics meets Metaphysics', at the University of Western Australia in 2004 to members of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute. Copies of the lecture on Intuition, and another, 'Belief - A New Creed for New Millennium', given at the Anglican Theological Seminary in 2005, are available as email attachments on request. In addition to holding a Bachelor of Science degree, and a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, he is a Fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.
